About Me

Who I am

I'm Laura Hobson, a problem-solver, designer, UXer, and coder, with over a decade of experience in product & experience design (and some web development on the side!). I'm passionate about using my skillset to make people's lives easier.

I've worked across many different design studios and agencies of varying sizes - from 2-man-bands to agencies of 100+ people. I've been in London for the last 10 years, working in agency-world across many different industries, including aviation, fashion and healthcare.

I'm a big believer of an inclusive work culture, and have embedded many different inclusion initiatives into the teams I've worked with over the years. I also think it's important to inject some fun into day-to-day work, and I've had the honour of being referred to as GIF queen at my current agency Digitas Health 👸

My background

I've been working in digital design for over 15 years; starting off in my teenage years designing and coding websites for local businesses, before freelancing as a WordPress web developer for local design agencies, and later working part-time as a digital designer for design studios in Derby during college & university.

After graduating, I moved to London and joined Poke full-time as a digital designer, spending 6+ years there, moving up from junior to senior, and expanding my skillset from digital design to experience design.

More recently, I've spent the last 4 years - and counting - at Digitas Health, joining as a Senior UX Designer (and the only UX designer!), and quickly working my way up to Lead Product Experience Designer - now combining my product, UX & UI skills, and growing the team to manage a midweight UX designer as well as additional freelancer UXer(s).

I've learnt a lot (and am still always learning), and have had a lot of fun along the way. I've also worked with some amazingly talented people that I'm lucky enough to call friends!
